Our dayhire narrowboats are the perfect way for you to get a feel for life on the canal. We have carefully designed our dayhire boats so they are easy to handle and an ideal introduction to getting afloat. Obviously, if you already have experience then dayhire will get you back on the water and rekindle your love of the canals.

Here is a schematic of the dayboat layout

Cost

You don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy life afloat! If you’ve never experienced waterways life, give it a try with family or friends for the day! Our easy-to-operate dayboats are based at the wharfs in Lower Heyford in the Cotswold borders (4 dayboats), Thrupp, near Oxford (2 dayboats), Devizes (1 dayboat) and at Bradford-on-Avon , close to historic Bath (2 dayboats). There are full safety features and training provided, and our own special design of narrowboat allows accommodation for all weathers for up to 10 people. Prices vary through the season but start at £135 per day (price for a full day’s hire with up to 10 people with full training, life jackets and fuel included).

Design

Our boats are easy to handle and fully enclosed – so if our changeable British weather should deal a less than perfect day, there is always a place to keep warm and watch the world go by through the large picture windows. In the kitchen galley there is crockery, cutlery and glassware, for 10 people, as well as a two ring hob, sink with hot and cold water and central heating radiator onboard. Each boat also has a toilet cabin too.

Dayhire is from 09.30 to 17.30 only, and a £200 refundable cash deposit is taken on arrival against the boat’s safe and clean return on time.

Picnic Afloat

Moor up in the countryside and spread a blanket out on the grass to savour a special day out. Celebrate your special occasion with friends and family – the boats are sociable areas with lots of room to chat as you cruise along. An all-weather covered foredeck allows you to still admire the scenery without getting wet! Folding chairs can be moved around – even ashore for al fresco dining!

Children Welcome

Let the children take part! They will love to help work the locks, run along the towpath, or even steer the boat under supervision – this is truly a waterway adventure for all ages! We provide buoyancy aids and full instruction to enjoy your day in safety!

Responsible Boating

May we respectfully remind all hirers to behave responsibly on our waterways. This includes adhering to our stated safety guides, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and keeping children safe and under control.
